For Today...March 1, 2012

Outside my window...It's cloudy this morning, but it looks like there's a chance the sun might peek through later today!

♫"The sun will come out tomorrow."♫..er...or next Monday and Tuesday...  Wow! Tuesday! Look at that!:

I am thinking... that my blogging friends are thinking "what happened to Linda in February?"  I know-- where did it go??  I didn't post the whole month.  Yikes!  My only excuse is it ran of days too soon-- Hey we could pretend that today is Feb. 30...???  No? okay.

I am thankful for...oh so much.  First for our great big beautiful family.   On the 12th, we had five of our six grands here.  What a joy!     Ben, Lisa, Sophie and our new little grand daughter Audry came to visit!

From the kitchen...There is banana bread that I made on Monday- extra good  this time!  My husband has been taking it to work each day.

I am wearing...jeans, and a blue top and green socks.

I am hoping...to finish the unit that my tutoring student and I are working on this afternoon.  She is such a joy to work with.  She is home schooled on a virtual school website.  She is dyslexic and I help by reading the lessons to her.

I am hearing... Amanda and her kitty Sookie in the kitchen.

I am remembering...that I saw seeds and flowers advertized in Menards flyer last week - Spring is on the way!!

I am praying...for everyone I can think of when I am wide awake at 3:00 or 4:00 a,m, these last few nights.

Around the house...Getting it ready for a weekend visit from my sister, her kids and maybe my mom!

A few plans for the rest of the week...having fun with the family this weekend.  Hoping for a house full!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... pictures that made us smile this week.  Posted by their mommy after an alleged attempt of doing his own haircut and giving his little brother a haircut...

It looks like everyone was happy after Daddy gave haircuts all around.  Oh the joys of boys!
Oh, and Grammy can't leave this little guy out! No haircut here, but Emmett's mommy reports that he loves green beans!

Happy March you all!

For Today... Monday, March 23 2009

Outside my window... Rainy and cloudy, but temps are going up into the 50's, so I'm not complaining. Hey, we all know it could just as easily be snow:)

I am thinking... how blessed our family is with the birth of our new little granddaughter, Sophia, last Thursday. And what a blessing it is that Jess was able to fly to Pittsburgh to help Lisa and Ben through the first week of having their baby home.

I am thankful for...getting to spend an hour or so talking to our son, Jonathan, last night who is in college in Milwaukee and all the good things that are going on in his life:) Also, hearing him tell about his little buddy nephew,Sam, and how much fun they have together.

From the kitchen...I am wanting to rearrange a wall of shelves (kind of an open pantry) for a different look-still have to be functional- yet decorative. hmmm...I think I will ask the advise of my lovely and creative daughter-in-law, Kristen:)

I am wearing... pajamas- yep, same answer every week:)

I am reading...my newest issue of "Birds and Blooms" magazine.

I am hoping...that my mom decides to come along when my sister and her family to visit us the week before Easter.-- and for warm spring weather that week:)

I am creating...still planning to get some cards made ahead.

I am hearing...tires hitting water on the road. Rain coming down. Good Morning America on tv.

Around the house... Starting to decorate for Spring and Easter.

One of my favorite things...a steaming bowl of oatmeal on a chilly morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week...It's going to be mostly rainy, so inside-the-house work--- still purging and organizing rooms.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Here is our new little granddaughter, Sophia Genevieve Grace, born last Thursday, March 19th.
And here is our "big boy" grandson Sam, now 17 months old:)
I am one happy-(and blessed) Grammy!

I hope you have a wonderful week:)

For Today... Monday, March 16 2009

Outside my window..Sunshine and blue skies- temps heading into the 60's today- that is a major heat wave for us!

I am thinking... how fast our daughter's senior year in high school is going--she's the youngest of six--how have these eighteen years gone by so quickly? Hug your babies ladies--it really is true that you turn around and they are grown.

I am thankful for...celebrating Amanda's eighteenth birthday this week! What a blessing she is to our family. Before she was born, the doctor warned us that she may not be healthy--but, praise God, she was fine!
I am also so thankful for the group of friends that Amanda has. Such great kids! They build each other up and encourage one another- allowing each to just be themselves and be real. Most of them also love the Lord- and that has made the difference.
Over 20 kids threw a surprise birthday party for Amanda Saturday night. She was delighted!:)

From the kitchen...tidying up needed since I was not feeling well most of the weekend.

I am wearing... pajamas- love my pj's in the morning:)

I am reading...starting a book titled "Pursuing Godliness"a study of I Timothy by Elizabeth George. I had forgotten that I had this book! Came across it Saturday when I was sorting. I bought it at a women's conference that Elizabeth spoke at several years ago.

I am hoping...that our family can get together soon. So many circumstances have kept us apart this winter- weather not being the least.

I am creating...hopefully some homemade cards this week.

I am hearing...a siren going down the highway. I always try to pray for whoever is having an emergency and needs that help right now.

Around the house... I have made some progress on sorting and purging. More needed...
I am also researching some new recipes.

One of my favorite things...when the grass starts greening up in the spring.

A few plans for the rest of the week...getting ready to celebrate Amanda's birthday.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
This is our birthday girl! Happy 18th Amanda!! We love you:)

The Simple Woman's Daybook- March 9

For Today... Monday, March 9,2009

Outside my window..Bright sunshine on another one and a half inches of heavy snow, making everything look like a winter wonder land. Yes, it's March in Wisconsin...Repeat after me --"Spring will come, Spring will come..."
Since temps are rising today, we are using the "no shoveling" advice of our then, 13 or 14 year old son, Ben (he's 27 now:). As he was heading out to shovel the driveway yet again, he lamented, "Why can't we just wait until May and it will all just melt?"

I am thinking... that I need to get serious this week with purging and organizing several rooms.

I am thankful for...the promise of Spring around the corner... and more daylight in the evenings after the time changed Sunday.

From the kitchen...dishes waiting to be loaded into the dishwasher. Seeing the birds out the window, wondering why the bird feeder is empty (see picture below:).

I am wearing... pajamas - I do my best (morning) work in my pj's -- (pssst...don't tell the Flylady:)

I am reading... through my stack of magazines as I cut out what I want to save from them and then send them out to the recycle bin.

I am hoping...that maybe this could be our last snow???

I am creating...some space in our home after purging clutter and giving away stuff.

I am hearing...the sound of tires hitting the wet pavement outside, Fox and Friends on the kitchen tv.

Around the house... the work in progress of becoming more clutter free and organized.

One of my favorite things...talking with our sons and catching up with their lives. I am blessed to be these guys' mom.

A few plans for the rest of the week...continuing on the piles- getting rid of things we don't use. Blessing this home with peace and making it a restful haven for the family-- and being ready with hospitality.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

This is what it looks like outside our backdoor this morning. It is beautiful, especially since it is one of our last snowfalls of the winter...

In March, we never say never:)

I think the stone goose has had enough winter for this year:)
Fortunately, the forecast calls for temperatures in the mid 40's later today. Yay!

The Simple Woman's Daybook- March 2

Stop in and visit Peggy over at Simple Woman's Daybook for more daybooks.

For Today... Monday, March 2,2009

Outside my window...most of our snow has melted and we have 7 degrees and bright sunshine. Looking forward to warmer temps this week.

I am thinking... I need to finish my grocery list for later today.

I am thankful for...a loving, hard working husband who loves the Lord and strives to do right in his daily endeavors.

From the kitchen... the wonderful smell of coffee;)

I am wearing... pajamas - I do most of my morning "puttering" in my pj's.

I am reading... today's devotional in my newest little booklet of Days of Praise- "Trust in the Lord" is the title for today-Psalm 37:3

I am hoping...and praying that our little grandson, Sam, feels better today and that his mommy and daddy don't get the stomach bug that he has!

I am creating...some baking this week- need to look through my recipes and see what looks good.

I am hearing...the hum of the furnace as it comes on to keep us warm:), the squeaky brakes from the stopping and going of the garbage truck coming down our street.

Around the house... a load of towels washing, birds feeding at the bird feeders on the deck--along with a pesky squirrel:) Beautiful sunshine flowing through the windows -uh - making it very apparent that they need to be cleaned!

One of my favorite things...hearing my daughter sing as she plays the piano.

A few plans for the rest of the week... cleaning, write some notes and mail them-yes snail-mail still lives:)-

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
Happy Birthday to my Mom, Pearlie, who was 81 last Friday:)
Love you Mom!
Thanks for all you have done and still do for your family and friends!
(there's a tribute to Mom on my Friday blog:)
