I am joining in on Kelli's Show and Tell Friday. Visit her blog and enjoy all the treasures being shared.
I have been visiting Christmas past in my December posts, so I thought I would continue today with this photo from 1986.
Do you have any memories of being afraid of seeing Santa in person? I mean there he was right in front of you -- the Big Guy himself! And he's looking at you and saying something...to YOU!
You've see pictures of him, not too scary... but this is different -- that bright red suit and all his white hair and beard-- a bit overwhelming.
In this picture: (On the left starting with the shortest on up)- Christian (2), Tim (2),Daniel (6), Nathan (10). (On the right)- Ben (4) - And Santa is holding Kent (newborn)
The older boys are okay with Santa, but look at the two-year-olds- Tim and Christian.
They look just a little leery of Santa. When Santa talks, they listen:) Little Christian's hand up to his mouth gives a glimpse of how they both might feel... Santa is a little scary.
This photo was taken at the annual "Breakfast with Santa" put on by the Rotary Club. This was the beginning of many years of the annual date with Santa for our kids and their cousins. Several more cousins would be added to the ranks in the next few years.
Also at this Santa Breakfast, were the Shriner Clowns, who walked around greeting the children and making balloon animals and swords for them. Tim is holding one of those coveted balloon swords. We wouldn't leave until all the boys had one.
These boys are now young men and they will tell you today how cool those swords were!
Santa was okay too:)
I hope this Christmas brings love and sweet memories for you. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Great photo - we have a few looking anxiously at Santa too.
I suppose we tell them all year to be wary of strangers and don't take gifts from them.... then we put them on a stranger's knee with a weird suit and he gives them a gift!
That's a great picture of all the kids with Santa. He would be a little scary to the little ones.
Ah, what great memories. Yeah my little girl is a little leary of Santa too. She did better this year than last. Have a great Christmas and thanks for sharing this post.
I don't remember ever having a picture taken while going to see Santa. My oldest, though, had tears in her eyes for her first visit. Thank you for sharing. Please come visit me.
Mine boys would not have anything to do with Santa, so I never got a picture of them with Santa. Thanks for sharing yours. Merry Christmas
My kids enjoyed sitting on Santa's lap in the department stores. Now they enjoy the pictures and the expressions on their faces.
Reminds me of my niece when she was little way back in the 50s. Santa asked her what she wanted him to bring her, and she said "Just some beans." We've laughed about that ever since.
What great pictures you have and how nice to have the time to visit with Santa in that setting.
When I was a little girl, I was always afraid not to see Santa himself because I never believed in him, I was afraid to look to my little shoe and see that the baby Jesus didn't put anything in there. Each family, each tradition - and each fear too.

Cool! I love pictures of kids crying on Santa's lap, can't tell you why, just do:)
How long did the swords last?

That's a sweet picture. I took my girls to see Santa this year and the little one would only pose if her two teenage sisters sat with her, so I have a darling pic of all the of them with Santa.
That is such a sweet picture. I love those old memories.
I have photos of Santa and me when I was growing up too. I think I was a bit leery of him also. :)
Thanks for sharing your Christmas memories. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Santa photos are so precious. Thanks for sharing yours.
Great picture and it is true
we tell our kids to avoid stangers then once a year we tell them it is OK to go sit on Santa's knee
Are family photos the best? I have
made a scrapbook to document my family history. Merry Christmas

oh now and see here i was thinking i was uber cool that a highschool senior thought my project was a good one! ;)
It's fun to remember, isn't it? I have great memories of both kids with Santa. My favorite of my son is me handing a sleeping 6 month old to Santa, and Jason waking up to Santa's face and being enthralled. Thanks for the memories :).
You are always welcome at The Shadow of the Cross. Please feel free to visit anytime.

Excellent show n tell.
I'm slow getting around to those who visited with me, it's been a hectic few days here.
I want to wish you the best of holidays this year. May it be peaceful and ever-so happy.
It is so much fun looking back on memories such as these. I enjoyed it very much.

What a unique idea for show and tell! I love it! After all, memories make up how we each perceive Christmas and the feelings it evokes. Thank you for sharing your pictures!
