This is usually where they ended up...
...making a mess on the counter. Cake mixes make an even bigger mess.
Oh, I tried this -even in larger measuring cups. But just as I reach for something behind it, I'd knock it off the measuring cup and have a mess again.
Several weeks ago, there was a salad/dessert plate sitting out and I grabbed it to use and WOW- what a difference it made-- just to have a flat surface to place the messy things.
Like I said, I don't know why I haven't thought of this before...
It's not rocket science, but it makes my life easier:)

Glad that works for you...that's what I always do! And yes, I call them spatulas as well!
That is a great idea! I call scrapers spatulas too.
I always use a dessert plate too, sometimes multiple ones! And we call them spatulas as well. I was surprised my boys knew what a rubber spatula is. :)
I have a picture of the diaper cake on my blog today.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I added another picture of the diaper cake to my original post, which shows the baby spoons and nuks on the front.
Hi Linda!! Glad you found an answer!! I use my salad plates when I'm doing serious multi-dish cooking as my spoon rests.
Great post!!
Have a lovely day!!

This is such a great idea! Oh, and I still call it a spatula.
Thank you Linda for your sweet words about my mom's tribute. How wonderful to still have your mom and not too far away. It sounds like we are kindred spirits is lots of ways. I'm so happy I have met you on your blog. Have a great day, dear friend. Elena
Oh, I call them spatulas, too!- much to my poor husband's confusion.
I called them spatulas. I was trying to remember where I put the beater... and I'm usually through with the beater and I scrape the dough or batter off and place in the soapy water in my sink. My hands are the dishwasher :-(
