The Simple Woman's Daybook- April 20,2009

Stop in and visit Peggy over at Simple Woman's Daybook.

For Today... April 20,2009

Outside my window...cloudy and rain.

I am thinking...I shouldn't have stayed up so late last night. Am yawning a lot this morning...I tape the 24 tv series for hubby because he works -so he was catching up on them and I joined him- they are addicting, even if you've seen them before.

I am thankful for... the flowers popping up through the soil these days!

From the kitchen... uh- did I mentioned that I was watching 24 late with hubby? Yeah, I need to go load the dishwasher.

I am wearing...jammies, of course

I am reading...through my cookbooks for some new ideas for meals.

I am hoping... for a stretch of warm dry weather for painting our deck railing.

I am creating... an organized home office.

I am hearing...the city wood chipper grinding up tree branches-- it's branch pick up day- oops!- didn't realize that.

I am praying... the family whose son committed suicide last Thursday. He was a senior -in my daughter's class. And all the students who are grieving. I also pray that this opens up hearts and mind to the gospel and Hope for their lives.

Around the house... pretty much the same thing every week- wash, rinse,...repeat:)

One of my favorite things... is talking with my sister on the phone, my best friend.*

A few plans for the rest of the week... nothing big on the agenda, a pretty quiet week expected. Those are usually dangerous words...

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...*

This was taken of my sister, Melissa and me when she was four and I was nineteen. I was a freshman in college, and her job then, was to have fun and make us laugh:)
Side note++ the Wisconsin Badger sweatshirt was from a business trip our parents took to the UW. (We lived in central Illinois) Who knew then, that I would live most of my adult life here in the Badger state?!

It's funny how a 15 year difference in our ages melted away as we got older.
We are best friends--and among all her many talents-- Missy is still very good at having fun and making us laugh-til coffee comes out of our nose:)
I love you Missy!!

Love the picture. When I was 17 my greatest desire was to have a little sister or a big sister or a little brother or a big brother. I was an only child - still am.

Missy,
Oh contrare...(you like that?-I think that's French:)not a pantsuit.
I was wearing brown jeans, brown shirt under a brown and white striped tee shirt--yes I worked to put that outfit together:)... seen as cool in the 70's. oh yeah.

And as you can see the "layered" hairstyle had just come in- just had to do that.

And I liked your sweatshirt--I had a red one:)

Love the sisters picture. My only sib is 18 years older than I am, so I appreciate the age difference and the closeness all at the same time☺

Dear Linda, I just got your comment on my 1 year post on my blog. Thank you so much for what you said. You made my day! I would love to sit down and talk with you too. I know we have a lot in common but most importantly the Lord! I loved the picture of you and your sister. My mom had a sister 15 years older than her and she loved her dearly. My mom's mom died when mom was 19. Her sister, Eva, who was 15 years older just loved my mom so much and was like a 2nd mom to her. She introduced my mom to my dad and she helped with her wedding and when my sister came along, she gave mom support and all kinds of help, just like a mother would. One of my earliest memories was when my mom found out that her sister, Eva, died. I was 4 years old and I saw my mom get off the phone, lay her head on the kitchen table and just cried her heart out. She knew her sister was with the Lord, but she missed her so much! I don't remember my Aunt Eva but she lived very lovingly and vividly in my mother's heart and stories she told us kids! Have a wonderful day dear friend. Love, Elena
